WHAT IS AN ARTICLE?

An Article is a complete piece of writing on an issue of public interest. It usually contains views or opinions of its writer on a specific issue or topic.

If you want to write a good and well-arranged Article, then you have to follow these hints.

a.       CONTENT

The content depends on the topic you are to write on, but you must write on all aspect of the question  that you are asks just to earn or get a good mark. Your option must be relevant to the question.

b.      ORGANIZATION

a)      Writing an article is not the same as writing as writing a letter to the editor of newspaper. You are not expected to write a letter to the Editor, when you are ask to write an Article for publication in a newspaper or magazine.

b)      You are expected to write the title of the Article clearly on the Top of the Article.

c)       You are expected to write an introductory paragraph which you to give your readers an insight of the topics.

d)      Consider the interest of your readers and the effect  you want to create on the readers.

e)      Present you opinion in a logical order and develop your paragraphs adequately.

f)       Write your name and class below the end of your article.

c.       Expression

a)      Your language should be formal, since you are writing an article for publication in a newspaper or magazine.

b)      Topics for article call for expository prose and clarity of expressions. Write an article in a simple, straightforward sentence and avoid using slangs.

c)       Your vocabulary should be carefully chosen for effectiveness.

a.       There has been an outbreak of an epidemic ( A widespread disease that affect many individual in a population or an occurrence of a disease  in a population of a frequency higher than that expected in a given period of time.}  in your area.

Then write an Article for publication in a health magazine stating the causes and the effects, and suggesting what should be done in order to check it.

THE OUTBREAK OF CHOLERA IN MKPAT ENIN L.G.A IN AKWA IBOM STATE, NIGERIA

The recent outbreak of cholera in Mkpat Enin L.G.A In Akwa Ibom state.claimed several live. It all started like a small outbreak which could be contained but it later took a frightening proportion leading to an epidemic.  The epidemic lasted for two days but its effects are massive.

    The cholera outbreak was caused by the unhealthy environment which is as a result of the unhygienic  habitats of the residents of mkpat Enin. Almost everywhere, one will find heaps of refuse. 

Refuse bins . Refuse bins are not readily emptied and every road side is littered with waste.  It is a common sight to see mountainous dunghills  covering up the major road in the community.

 Furthermore, Mkpat Enin,  lacks good, drinkable water .

 The resident depends on a stream where the whole community gets its water. The stream itself is not hygienic and clean enough for drinking water as different people still enters it and bath and still fetch from the some to drink which  is not good.

 Some of this people has sore in their legs and others infection. Defecation around the stream does not helps matters as the streamed  becomes contaminated with virus and germs.

  Similarly, mkpat enin lacks where people can food items. The local of the market the community  at the far end of the community which makes it difficult for some people especially old women to trek down to the market to buy things there.

 The residence, therefore, have to buy food items from hawkers who opens their goods to flies and others harmful  insect. 

 The effect of the epidemic enormoud. Many lives are lost. According to Available medical reports, about one hundrend people died in two days as the result of the epidemic. 

Many able bodies, men and women and children lost their lives, this causing anguished  and sorrow in the community. The State government and others local government areas should come and rescue us.

   My suggestion is that government should launch a campaign to enlighten the people of Mkpat enin on how to cultivate a simple hygienic habits.

     Secondly, the local government should ensure that the heaps of refuse are cleared on time.

Thirdly, sanitary inspectors should be sent out to inspect homes in the community and ensure that the people clean their surrounding regularly. 

Any residence who fails to maintain a clean environment should be made to pay fine as punishment. Lastly, government should build hospital for the people and the clinic should be well equipped to curtail further outbreaks of such epidemic.

DANGERS OF VANDALISING PETROLEUM PIPELINES IN MY COUNTRY

 In this recent time, vandalisation of petroleum pipeline is a common occurrence in my country. It occurs almost on daily basis as some unscrupulous Nigerians vandalize the pipeline in order to snoop petrol which they always sell to make quick money. 

In most case, people claim that poverty that has pervaded the country is responsible for this act. The fact is that most Nigerians want to mmake money without having to work hard.

 It seems as if those who vandalize petroleum pipelines are discreet as they don’t think about the dangers that are inherence in pipelines vandalization.

First and foremost, it could lead to a large scale of death of people including those who are innocent. This is so as petrol is so as petrol is highly inflammable and can cause fire. 

Fire outbreak has always been one of the fatal consequces of petroleum pipeline vandalisation .

 Recently in Abule Egba, a suburb of lagos, many people died as a result of fire outbreak from a vandalized pipeline where they were scooping fuel.

     Secondly, it is not only lives that are usually lost when there is fire outbreak from vandalized pipeline. Properties are also lost as several houses and others valuables are burnt.

  Houses that are build near the vandalize pipeline as well as vehicles that were packed nearby roads are usually gutted by fire.
